Movies Lately: Judge, Shaun The Sheep, Bert and Dickie

In the last 2 weeks, I enjoy all the movies I have watched. They aren’t amazing movies but they are still enjoyable and I really like them all.

These three movies are all different in many ways and I like each one for different reasons.

Let’s just begin my short review

Story:

Ota Kiichiro (Tsumabuki Satoshi) is an awkward man who worked in an advertising agency. He worked there because he was inspired by an ad he saw when he was younger. His sly boss wanted him to go to the world’s biggest TV Advertising Festival as a judge to replace the boss. He got the job because one of his agency’s client wanted to win the festival and if they don’t win he will be fired.

Ota couldn’t speak English, so he asked his co-worker who could speak English well to pretend as his wife. He got a special English tutor, the eccentric Kagami who taught him more trick than English. Ota with his quirkiness and awkwardness managed to make the festival more honest and more alive. Continue reading “Movies Lately: Judge, Shaun The Sheep, Bert and Dickie”

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

I love the special!!

Doctor-Who-The-50thAnniversary

I really don’t know how to write this review…so many surprises!! so many intertwine stories!! too many Doctors!! too many WOW moment…simply said I love it but wrong review will give HUGE spoiler.

I think I should start with a big applause to Steven Moffat … one genius writer who makes magic happens. In case you don’t know who he is, he is the mastermind of Sherlock and Doctor Who…he has amazing imagination. I wouldn’t say he is my favorite Doctor Who’s writer because sometime the best episode in a series of Doctor Who didn’t come from him but he also has some of my favorite Doctor Who’s episode, like Blink and Empty Child.

Moffat has amazingly connected three Doctors into one. I love the way he made the three of them met. I wish I can write how but let’s just say they met 😉

All whovian should watch the mini episodes first

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary – IT’S NEXT WEEK!!! AAAAHHHH

I am so busy right now and I don’t even have time to blog even though I have so many to share…but I throw away all my busyness for a few hour to hunt all the videos related to Doctor Who as the 50th anniversary is one week away…..I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S SO CLOSE NOW!!!

OH HOW I LOVE DOCTOR WHO!!

Miyuki @ Nekoneko’s Movie Litterbox , my fellow Whovian kindly shared me this amazing video called The Night of The Doctor which is a mini episode for Doctor Who 50th Anniversary. She has just made my day a lot brighter!!! All my boredom of dealing with school’s report has finally been lifted. Thank you Miyuki ((hug))

Because of her…I make this post 🙂

I want to share all the teaser and trailer and mini episode of Doctor Who 50th Anniversary. Let’s begin!

At first, BBC only shared an amazingly short teasers. They didn’t give whovian much to see.

Most Anticipated Viewing of 2013 (second half) and 2014

When Tim @ Tim’s Film Review asked me, which one I look forward to see in 2015, my mind immediately went to what I am waiting for for the second half of 2013 and the upcoming 2014. I have no plan yet for 2015.

Why I write VIEWING not MOVIE?

Because what I am waiting and dying to see is not only movie…it’s also TV Show!

So… Here are the shows and movies I can’t wait to see!

Sherlock Series 3

How can I and other Sherlockian not be excited? We have been waiting for this for a couple of year!! We have made many assumption of how Sherlock faked his death. We have been biting our nails in anticipation.

…and…BBC made the waiting worst by sharing the teaser.

Note: I am so happy to know that Mary, the woman that John Watson will marry in case you never read Sherlock, is Martin Freeman’s real life Partner 😉

Doctor Who series 7

I have finally finished watching the best Sci-fi TVSeries EVER! How I love Doctor Who.

Doctor Who

Series 7 is a bit different to previous series because all the episodes are a standalone episode, no to-be-continue episode, but the finale was a painful cliffhanger…Damn you Moffat!! I have to wait till November to have the answer to so many questions you have left in the final episode. Arrghh November feels ages away.

Apart from what I have mentioned above, this series is also different because The Doctor has new companion in the middle of the series, it never happened before from series 1 to 6.

I will begin my review with the 2011 Christmas Special:

The doctor, The Widow and the wardrobe

The idea was a bit like Narnia but in The Doctor’s way. The Doctor was helped by Madge Arwell and when she turned widow, the Doctor returned to give her a favor. The Doctor gave them a big box for their Christmas gift. Cyrill, Madge’s son, couldn’t resist and peeked into the box. The box was a postal to a forest with so many tress covered in snow. But the beautiful forest was about to be liquefied and the soul of the tress needed help.

In the end of this special episode, Madge told the Doctor that he shouldn’t let his friends thought that he was dead (from previous series) in Christmas, he should tell them the truth. And it’s so lovely to see the Doctor cried of happiness.

Asylum of the Daleks

It began with Amy and Rory who were about to have a divorce (WHAT??) … I was like what the hell is going on? I meant these two loved each other so much and divorce seemed to cruel…but the reason was later revealed. The Doctor, Amy and Rory were being teleported by the Daleks. The Daleks wanted them to turn off the shield on the planet where they exiled the insane Daleks. Funny as it may sound, but I find the Daleks as the most entertaining Doctor Who enemy…I wish I have their action figure. Anyway, they had music coming from the planet and wanted the Doctor and his companions to check it and helped them blew the planet. The Doctor, Amy and Rory were helped by a female named Oswin Oswald, but they could only hear her voice.

The ending was really surprising…I really love the ending.

Doctor Who Series 6 (2011)

Time for another Doctor Who review 😉

I have mentioned in my Doctor Who series 5 review that Matt Smith is my least favorite Doctor and I am not that keen of his impersonation of the Doctor…however, I am glad I stay with him (meaning I didn’t ditch Doctor Who because the new Doctor was less interesting than the previous one)…I am glad because Matt Smith’s version of The Doctor has finally got into me 😉

I think one of the reasons I couldn’t warm up to Smith in series 5 was because series 5 was a bit of a letdown. After the amazing series 4, series 5 felt so plain. FORTUNATELY, series 6 was a knock out! I love all the episodes and it’s far more interesting than series 5. Each episode made me accept the quirky Doctor more and more.

Although I am still going to say that Tennant is my favorite Doctor, but I am beginning to enjoy Smith’s version of The Doctor 🙂 I am also warming up to the Doctor’s companions, Amy and Rory…mostly Rory. River Song also pops up occasionally.

Series 6 had 13 fascinating stories that completely glued me to the television set. I finished them all in 3 days, I could have finished them all in one day if I had a 13 hour free time. They were a series of amazing journey. I was all pumped up again 🙂 The feeling was just like when I enjoyed all the episodes from series 1 with the ninth Doctor to series 4 with the tenth Doctor.

The Impossible Astronaut and Day of The Moon. The series began with a double episode which reminded me so much of The X Files (yippi). The Doctor invited Amy, Rory and River Song to a certain place in USA. An astronaut suddenly showed up from the lake and shot the Doctor…yes, the series began with the death of the Doctor. Quite an opening, don’t you think? Continue reading “Doctor Who Series 6 (2011)”

Doctor Who – Series 5 (2010)

Doctor Who series 5
New Doctor Who Logo

I finally have time to write and share about the latest Doctor…the eleventh Doctor. I have actually watched the series almost two months ago but something else always came up and made me published those posts before this one. I think there is a reason why I publish it a bit later, unlike what I did before. The main reason is, I am not that keen with the latest Doctor.

All Matt Smith fans…please don’t hate me for saying this but out of all three Doctors I have seen, the Eleventh Doctor is clearly my least favorite. I think this new version of The Doctor is rather uncharismatic. When the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) said something like “I am The Doctor and I will stop you!!” or “I am the Doctor and you must fear me!!” or something similar like that…both Doctors have great charisma that can make the baddies think twice before attacking. In my eyes, when the Eleventh Doctor says that kind of statement…I see no charisma coming out of him.

Christmas Carol Special

First of all…NO NEED to wish me Merry Christmas as I am not Christian and therefore don’t celebrate Christmas …but Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it 🙂

Now…if I don’t celebrate Christmas, why do I make a Christmas Carol special? Well, the answer is because of Caroline @ Beauty Is A Sleeping Cat. She and Delia @ Postcard From Asia are hosting a Dickens in December. The idea is to read books by Dickens or watch movies based on his books. Well I am now reading A Tale of Two Cities, I hope I can finish it as I gave up with Oliver Twist years ago.

Today, December 21, is a Christmas Carol readalong event…unfortunately I couldn’t read one so I just shared two Christmas Carol specials…One is very funny while the other is very sentimental…and funny thing is both are Doctor Who related!! One played by the ninth Doctor and his companion while the other one is Doctor Who special.
