FITP & Flash 55: For Better or Worse

When she first met him, all she ever wanted was to spend her life with him. He welcomed her love. Two golden rings bound their love for better or worse.

But the golden ring on her finger means nothing to her now. Its beauty is hidden far behind the occasional black ring around her eyes.

Total: 55 words.

This is my fifth entry for Flash in The Pan \(^^)/ can’t believe I manage to write something each week…I hope I can keep it up. This flash is for Ring with 100 words limit.

Flash in The Pan is hosted by Red at Mommy’s Money Matter.

I hope I can come up with new flash fiction every week, there are 13 words in Flash in The Pan, I have done 3 so far :) you can see all the flashes at Red’s Blog.

The bold ones mean that I have made a story out of that word.

  1. Pepper (75)
  2. Squeak (75)
  3. Ripple (75)
  4. Drug (75)
  5. Wake (125)

ugh…what a nasty turn….and def the black rings tarnish the promise in the gold….well done 55…all too real….

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Brian.
Yup…violence definitely outshine even the most expensive gold.

  2. G-Man says:

    Novroz…

I hope you found this to be Creative, Challenging, and most of all Fun!!

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you G-man.
exactly 55 words is quite difficult to do but I will try to do it again in the future. Fun challenge πŸ™‚

  3. rebelle says:

Why do women stay in those marriages???

    1. Novroz says:

      I wonder the same!!

  4. Margaret says:

Gold turns to black. Very sad. Great use of the dual meaning of “rings’

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Margaret.

  5. Alice Audrey says:

Congratulations! You got it across in exactly 55. Going from a happy ring to a sad one sound a lot like the 55s I tend to write.

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Audrey πŸ™‚
It was actually written in 52 words then I remembered your Flash 55 and added 3 more words to the story. I also love a change of mood in a story.

      1. Alice Audrey says:

I’m really casual about my 55s. I even wrote a 55 about how I was fine with just being in the right ballpark. The hub owner gave me a tentative thumbs up and I’ve been running them from 40 to 70 words ever since. If I can actually land on exactly 55, that’s great, and I’ve done a lot of filling in and cutting out to get close, but I don’t sweat it too much.

        1. Novroz says:

Ah! I thought we have to write it exactly 55 words! if it doesn’t have to be exactly 55, it will make things easier πŸ˜‰

          1. Alice Audrey says:

The rule is 55. I think a lot of people work hard to hit that number. But a lot are like me, and just get close.

          2. Novroz says:

Ah…good trick them I guess I can always submit my flash even though it’s not exactly 55 from now on πŸ˜‰

  6. Red says:

This is a wonderful flash, Nov! I am so excited you got to enter it into another flash production! Now, I know if you can do 55 you can do the Hot Flash! ❀ xxx

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Red πŸ™‚
I will try my best…less than 50 is really tough plus it’s hard finding a story with Dancing involve in it….but I love challenges

  7. Binky says:

    Nicely done, Novroz!

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Peter πŸ™‚

  8. Caroline says:

That was another surprising twist. I didn’t see it coming. It’s tough – 55 words and shorter will be even harder.

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Caroline πŸ™‚
I will keep trying to write something with a twist in it.

Yup, less words make it more difficult…but I wish one day I can make just 10words but still has a story in it.

Say something so I know you have read my post, THANK YOU for reading :)
