Alert: Full of Spoilers!!!
I gave 3.5 out of 5 stars for the first movie (here) because I still enjoy the appearance of the titans and the atmosphere of the movie despite the bad characterization on Mikasa.
I was looking forward to see the second movie although I know that there will be a lot of changes as the manga and anime haven’t finished yet. I was hoping that the screenwriter can come up with a good way to end the movie…something with the same atmosphere of the manga/anime.
HOWEVER….
It was below my expectation…it was the worst way to create an ending. It felt so forced up…it was like they want to make it full of thrill and twist BUT what came up is full of stupid and forced thrill and twist.
If you plan to watch it and don’t want to be spoiled…YOU STOP READING FROM NOW ON.
The movie began similar as the anime (I haven’t read the manga yet) with Eren tied up wile everyone was questioning his identity…whether he was a titan or human. His loyal friends defended him.
Suddenly…another intelligent titan (just like Eren) showed up. It came trampling down the squad and took Eren with him. It also killed most of the squad.
Eren woke up in a white room and Captain Shikishima was there. he explained every bad past to Eren, titans were once human. It was an experiment went wrong. Out of calculation, the number of human turned into titans increased significantly and ended up making human protected themselves with walls. This far, I still found it an good made up story. I can still accept it.
The coming of the second intelligent titan:
What I couldn’t enjoy is the fact that everyone seemed to be coming back to life again in order to twist the story…I REALLY HATE this kinda story!!
Shikishima wanted to destroy the wall so that human will fear the titans even more, Eren and the rest of the squad wanted to stop him and closed the hole in the wall. The battle between the two of them was inevitable. It was still okay for me.
BUT THEN….
The defeated titan (ups…I forgot to mention that the other intelligent titan was Shikishima – of course!! Everyone could easily guess that!) laid unconscious. And suddenly, the Kubal (the head of the squad) was there to stop them…What??? He was dead!!! And suddenly he was back from the death. To make things worse…he turned out to be the Colossal Titan who had made the hole in the wall. AND THEN Shikishima was back again in action.
SERIOUSLY!!! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON THERE???
At that point…I was already like “whatever!” and had lost any interest on the movie. All I wanted at that time was just to see the movie ends as quickly as possible so I could leave the cinema.
In conclusion:
Even though the first movie was not the best adaptation but I still like it and enjoy it, but I hate the second one so bad.

Ouch! Harsh review. I have lost interest in the films but if they are screened I’ll probably still go and see them out of curiosity. I didn’t think it would live up to the anime…
There were few movies I ever regret seeing in the cinema…this one is one of the few.
I like the first one even with all the changes but the second one is just too much.

Seems like that business about bringing people back to life is getting real common. I’ve been watching Supernatural. Just about every main character has been dead at least once. They even crack jokes about it.
Maybe because people are afraid of dying so they start making more movies/series where everyone comes back to life
And here I thought it was opinion poles. Though I notice on Supernatural, they only bring the guys back. Not the women. That’s how they lost my dd as a fan.

I loathed the first part of it for altering most interesting portions of the great anime. Yet, at some points I took it as merely a work of fanfiction.
It’s good they provide answers to separate their titans from the anime, yet, I agree, it’s ridiculous.
A lot of fans hated the movie. I kinda like the first one, it was acceptable but the second one was too much
