Yes!! It seems that I have a new blog … as if I still have a lot of free time!
So far, I already have:
- 1 abandon tumblr (I will update something there …one day)
- 1 Indonesian blog which only being updated when there’s a funny story around my students. I call it Celoteh Siswa & Guru (rarely updated)
- 1 Turtle blog called Underneath The Shell…this one is highly maintained. This blog is very special because it’s concerning my lovely turtles.
- And of course…THIS BLOG!!
I recently made a new blog…not because I want to but because I HAVE to. My school hold teacher appraisal every end of school year. It is a way for them to measure teacher’s performance for 1 year and will be used for salary consideration. We have to write our reflection throughout a year…well, almost a year.
I had to work real fast before my appraisal day, I tried looking back everything I have taught in one year and searched for the evidence of my teaching (like photo or student’s work). In other word, we have to make a PORTFOLIO!
One of the teachers made an electronic portfolio, she made it in weebly. I honestly think what she did was genius. We can reduce using paper to print out the portfolio. Following her step, I created a new blog (still using wordpress) which will be my portfolio for every end of school year.
The title of the blog is TEACHING AT AIS because it is purely for my portfolio…but it is open for public, if anyone feels interested to read what I have taught at school…feel free to stop by and drop a comment or two π
As the purpose of the blog is to share what I have taught each unit (one semester consists of 3 units), workshops I have attended, and other school related…so this blog will not be updated so often…but it’ll not be abandoned either. So far, I like that new blog of mine because I can look back on everything I have taught in one year (and the following year)

HOLIDAY IS COMING!!! \(^_^)/
April 18 is Good Friday, that means we have a long weekend, from Friday to Sunday…and after that I have a mid-term break for 1 week.
I am planning to go to Mount Papandayan from April 18 to 20 π
I had visited Mount Papandayan when I was still in college. I love to go there again. unlike most mountain, the crater of this mountain is before we reach the summit. The last time I remember, the smell of hydrogen sulfur was so thick.
Papandayan is still active. On Friday September 2, 2011, the Indonesian Volcanology and Geophysical Disaster Mitigation Center reported that numerous shallow volcanic earthquakes had been recorded along with other indications of volcanic activity. There aren’t any significant activity for a couple of year…I really hope it stays like that while I am there.
I hope everything will be fine there and I can get lots of great pics π
I’ve abandoned tumblr too, just no time to update that AND the blog. That’s nice that you got Easter holiday, we don’t even get Good Friday off over here π¦
Oh you know Indonesia…we have holidays for all the five religions’ religious days π
I thought being in US you will have Easter break too
I never tried tumbler. I know many like it, but from visiting some blogs on it, I found it confusing. Good luck with the new blog. And yippie about your upcoming holiday! Enjoy
Tumblr is completely for fun…at least for me. I only shared photos there…photos of my fav actors π
It;s actually quite easy but I prefer wordpress more for something serious.
Thank you π I am looking forward for that.
So busy!! π
Seriously Novia, I don’t know how you manage it all… I feel like such a blogging slacker compared to you. π
Good luck on your vacation na here’s to hoping you enjoy it all and come back with nice stories to share. My fingers are crossed that the volcano stays quiet while you are visiting.
Huahahah…the new blog will only be updated once in a month…I can manage my time that much π
Thank you π I will be back with lots of pictures π
Have a nice trip, Novia! And we expect some nice pictures and a report when you get back! It will be graded.
Thank you Peter π
I will write it up as soon as I get home and flood it with lots of pictures.
Keeping track in blog form is a great idea! Will your students be able to comment?
If they can find the blog, yes they can leave comments there π
My dd has internet access through the school. If a teacher told her where the link was, she could use the school’s computers (or her laptop) to check it out. But generally people have to convince her to bother. I was wondering how likely it was your students would be reading up on you.
My school also has internet access as we used it all the time. I even give my student an essay but the source has to be a video from youtube (avoiding copy-paste action from an article)…but I am not going to tell them to read my blogs π
I did show them my Turtles’ blog but never told them to read any of my blogs. Some of them admit they had read my short stories and followed my twitter (even though I had told them that my tweets are rubbish)
I think it’s a good idea to have a work-related blog.
I’m tempted to start a new blog these days as well.
The problem with new blog is managing the time. I have just had a Cambridge meeting, I should write it down but I am currently busy with my mountain hiking post.
