March is almost over…fortunately it’s not over yet because I haven’t written any post regarding my number one favorite actor, the talented and gorgeous Mr. Cillian Murphy 🙂
The truth is, I almost thought I don’t have time for a post about him…but fortunately I can squeeze in a post of him in the last day of March. Monthly Murphy is the one post that requires a lot of research before posting. I tried not to miss any significant news about him…yes, I love him that much and even though each month the post is getting less reader, I don’t care because I am doing this for the love I have for that man ❤
Transcendence
Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.
I can’t wait to see this!! The story looks great (I hope the execution will be as great as the plot) and it stars great people: Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany and Cillian Murphy. Whuaaaa two actors I love the most in one movie!! It’s insane!!
Cillian will play as Cop/FBI named Anderson.
According to IMDB, it will be released on August 30, 2014. (Note: It is released on April)

In The Heart of The Sea
Based on the 1820 event, a whaling ship is preyed upon by a sperm whale, stranding its crew at sea for 90 days, thousands of miles from home.
Heart of the Sea is already in post-production stage now. Still no confirmation when it will be released. I have a good feeling that this will be played in Indonesian cinema because it stars Chris Hemsworth. Not a fan of him but apart from Cillian, I am looking forward to see Ben Whishaw and Brendan Gleeson (Cillian has played with him in 5 movies). Heart of The Sea is directed by the famous Ron Howard.
No trailer and poster yet, but fortunately I have found some snapshots of Cillian as Matthew Joy.

Peaky Blinders 2
In case you never heard of Peaky Blinders, do read this post first>> 10 Reasons Why you should Watch Peaky Blinders.
Peaky Blinders was one of the highlights of my 2013 TVSeries. Love it!! Great acting, great plot, great cinematography and great music.
I usually don’t like when Cillian plays the same character again because he is much too talented to play the same character again and again…but in Peaky Blinders’ case, I don’t care. I want to see him again as the cold Thomas Shelby.
Cillian won Best Actor at Biarritz International Festival of Audiovisual Programming for his role as Thomas Shelby.
According to DailyMail.co.uk, Cilliaan will be accompany by his fellow Inception cast, Tom Hardy! Whoaaaa…can you imagine how great this series will be?? More talented actors are being casted.
Peaky Blinders Season 2 has already started filming and will be aired Autumn 2014 🙂 … CAN’T WAIT!!

The Free World
According to Memento Films, Cillian is set to play as Mohamed Lundy.
Mo has finished serving his time for a brutal crime he did not commit—the murder of two young girls. In prison, his fellow inmates named him “The Cyclops” for his violent behaviour; he called himself Mohamed, in homage to the prophet.
Not entirely prepared for his new freedom and under constant suspicion by the small town community, he finds solace working at a dog’s shelter. There, he meets Doris Lamb, a beautiful, broken woman who endures the same beatings as the dog her husband has brought in. Mo and Doris connect in their own dysfunctional way.
One night, exhausted from her husband’s abuses, Doris seeks refuge at Mo’s place. Driven by the deep love that has developed between them, Mo decides he will stop at nothing to help Doris.
Looks like he is going to play another great character. I am also curious why they (the writers) chose the name Mohamed for his character.

And I truly enjoy reading an interview between Cillian and Berlin-based pianist Nils Frahm in Under The Radar under the title Cillian Murphy vs. Nils Frahm One Man, One Stage. One of my favorite quotes is this one:
Nils: … I don’t know how it is for you, when you work so long on a movie and then you watch it yourself. Can you enjoy it?
Cillian: The thing about films is, I finish work on it, and then a year and a half later you see it. You have this new relationship with it. It’s the director who has lived with it for the last three years or whatever of their lives. I’ll watch it once, and then I won’t return. I think it’s necessary to keep moving forward. I’ve always said that nostalgia is death, really for anyone creative. That’s the thing about being an actor. You pass it over and you move on. I’ve learned that as I’ve gotten older.

I have to wait until August to see Transcendence? This one I’ve been waiting for since last fall when I first saw the trailer. Looks divine!
I know 😦 I wish they can release it much earlier than August. Although the trailer seems to reveal too much but it still intrigues me.
Cillian is in “Transcendence”? I didn’t know that… Neat… I’m actually looking forward to seeing that one when it comes out. Carolyn likes science fiction stories so we’ll probably take an evening to see it at the cinema rather than waiting for it to come out on DVD.
What?? how could you not know that?? Oh my poor Cillian ;p
But it’s understandable…he is after all not the main cast.

Transcendence looks right up my alley. I’ll keep it in mind.
What Cillian trying to say is in the creativity side. If one lingers too much in the fact that he used to be a great actor or used to play in a very famous movie that the artist will be stagnant and never tries to look for a more challenging act. Every time Cillian was asked what is his best movie, he always refused to answer it because for him what comes next is more important than what he had done in the past.
Yeah, I got that. I just gave it another twist. Very disrespectful of me. I apologize.

I’m looking forward to Transcendence. Like you, I hope the execution is good. Sometimes these types of movies can have so much hype and then flop. But I need to push that thought out of my head. Focus on the good. Great cast!
I tend not to read much news on it and I will also avoid reading review till I saw it. I am not sure it’ll be a movie that will blow me away but I do think it might be a great one
I certainly want to watch Transcendence. What a cast!
And I can’t wait to watch Peaky Blinders 2.
