Mid-Term Hectic, Gotcha Days and Captain America Blogathon

I haven’t been blogging properly on this blog since March 7!! … MORE THAN 2 WEEKS!!

It might not look like that because I reblogged 2 posts somewhere in between…but reblogging doesn’t count, in my opinion. The reason is quite simple!! I have been very busy!! Being a teacher means that I have some months where I have more extra work than the rest of the months in a year (I also have holidays, that’s the best part of being a teacher πŸ˜‰ ). Last week, my school was having the special mid-term test which means that I have to prepare the test on the previous week. I have to prepare 3 test, one for Grade 10’s Chemistry, one for Grade 10’s Physics and one for Grade 8’s Science. Preparing the right level of difficulty on the test is quite challenging. I don’t want them to have the easiest test on earth but I also don’t want them to have the most difficult ones. For grade 10, I have to search from a lot of Cambridge past papers as a way to prepare them for the exam next year.

The dreaded (according to the students) has finally over and that only means 1 thing…I have to check them all and grade them. I hate giving multiple choice kind of questions…so I avoid it but that means I needed extra time to check all the papers. Fortunately, I am now down to 1 class to check πŸ˜‰

The hectic week of being a teacher has passed…I can blog properly again now πŸ™‚

The two reblogs I mentioned above were about my baby turtles, March is very special for me because I brought home two turtles in this month (I also lost one this month but I prefer to not remember such sadness and focusing on the happy days). I spent quite a few hours to teach myself the art of Prezi. And then I looked up for ways to change that prezi into a video. I really like prezi, i can share my baby turtles’ pics in a more interesting ways πŸ™‚

Here’s the video of the two prezi:

Happy 6th Gotcha Day to Kroten and 2nd Gotcha day to Papoe ((hug))

The last thing I want to share here is a movie blogathon (I know I should have posted this in a new post but I have so much to share and so little days in one week, so 1 post for 3 different topics seems like the most possible way for me).

Andy @ Fandango Groovers Movie Blog has created another fun movie blogathon:

This isn’t the first blogathon I have organised, however it has been thrown together very quickly. I have just see an extended trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In it we see Steve Rogers make a note in a pocket note book. A list of things he missed out on in the time he was frozen that people have recommended he should catch up on. Towards the bottom of the list there are two movies Rocky and Rocky II. This got me thinking, what ten movies would you recommend a person who Β had been frozen between 1943 and 2011.

The make-up of the list is up to you. It could be an historical record of what he missed, something to cheer him up/take his mind of things or just your favourite movies from the period.

I am going to go along with the movies that I think is so different to other movies out there….and to be honest, most of them are my favorite movies. The list is in no particular order.

1. The Matrix

Humans are nothing but battery for the machine that rules the earth!! That is an amazing imagination that will blow the mind of a man from 1943.

Matrix

2. Ringu

A ghost that appear in the middle of the day and the curse is tough to break. As most ghost appears at night (in most movie) I think this different appearance could scare the frozen in time man.

ringu

3. The Lord of the rings

Such believable world with astounding scenery would make anyone from 1943 drops his jaw.

LOTR

4. Star Wars 4,5, 6

I still think this is one of the best sci-fi movie and look so real. It would awe anyone from 1943.

Starwars

5. District 9

If I came from 1943, I would definitely believe that prawn aliens live in South Africa because District 9 looks more like a real documentary rather than just a movie

D9

6. Inception

Dream inside dream…mind blowing imagination. I know I will make this imaginary 1943 person’s head spinning dizzily with this movie…but I think watching Inception worth being dizzy.

inception

7. Saving Private Ryan

The most real war scene I have ever seen…it doesn’t sugar coat the gory part of war. I think anyone from WWII era will feel like he has returned to his era…though it wasn’t a good one.

SPR

8. Monty Python and The Holy Grail

Comedy with brain. The only comedy I want to share with someone from the past is this one, so many comedies nowadays are full of brainless silliness, I wouldn’t want to contaminate him with such comedy.

Holy grail

9. Spirited Away

It wouldn’t be a perfect list without animation and of course I will recommend the best animation I have ever seen. Sen To Chihiro No Kamikakushi is outstanding in both graphic and story/plot.

Spirited away

10. Jurassic Park

Since the most decent dinosaurs movie before 1943 is The Lost Word (youtube), I sincerely believe that Jurassic Park would make the man from the past jump off the chair seeing the terrible lizards look so real in Jurassic Park.

Jurassic Park

Well… those are the 10 movies I would recommend to anyone from 1943, looking forward to know yours πŸ™‚

I know I have put too much in one post, just go through the ones you want to read and ignore the rest πŸ˜‰

    Cute turtles πŸ™‚

Good list – I’d definitely second Inception and Jurassic Park. I think I’d also put in Gravity for more of a spectacle to blow the person away.

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Jason πŸ™‚

Ah yes…I forgot about Gravity! That would definitely awed him

  3. ruth says:

You sure are one busy girl, Nov! Glad you’re still blogging a bit though, otherwise I’d miss you too much πŸ˜€

Great list here, boy there are lots of my faves here, I’d volunteer to watch w/ the Captain, he..he.. well, except for Ringu & Saving Private Ryan, too chicken to watch those.

Ahah, sorry to be picky but LOL on ‘The Lords of the ring’ I guess that might be a more accurate title eh, as there is really only ONE ring and plenty of people who wants to ‘lord’ over it πŸ˜€

    1. Novroz says:

      Awww Thank you Ruth πŸ™‚

Hahahaha they are great movies!! you should keep the chicken away and watch it πŸ˜‰

Oh!! I didn’t realize I typed it wrongly ;p will fix it now. When are you going to post your list?

      1. ruth says:

I’ve already posted one of my contributors’ list, but mine and Ted’s list will go up tomorrow (Wednesday US Central Time) πŸ˜€

  4. A lot of movie series in your picks, almost all futuristic, interesting. Spirited Away is a nice touch! I don’t know about Ringu, it’s definitely a movie to remember πŸ˜‰

    1. Novroz says:

If you want to amaze someone…I think futuristic is the best ones πŸ˜‰

Hahaha Ringu is perfect πŸ˜‰ There’s no horror movies like that in 1943.

  5. Binky says:

I’m glad you can take a bit of a break now. That Prezi thing works very well as a presentation, though more people will probably see it as a video.
Interesting choices for movies. I’ve actually seen quite a few of them!

    1. Novroz says:

      Thank you Peter πŸ™‚
It is!! I love it! I wish there’s a way to embedded it to wordpress. At least I can change it to video now. I know for sure I will do more of that in the future, especially when sharing lots of photo. It takes time to do the prezi and then convert it to video…but totally worth it.

Thanks πŸ™‚ they are basically my favorite movies πŸ˜‰

  6. TBM says:

Haven’t heard of Ringu and I still haven’t watched Monty Python–can you believe it? Good luck with everything!

    1. Novroz says:

Really? it’s the original movie that becomes The Ring.

Your in England now, do watch it πŸ˜‰

      Thank you, TBM

  7. Alice Audrey says:

Humans as batteries has way too many holes in it for a man from the 40’s to take seriously. Only our technology filled world covers the holes.

    1. Novroz says:

      I know…and that’s the fun of it πŸ˜‰
I like sharing something that makes people think…apart from that the visual effect is too stunning to miss.

      1. Alice Audrey says:

        I’ll give you it’s a fantastic visual.

  8. Caroline says:

I’m not around as much, so I’m sorry to say, I didn’t notice you were that busy.
Interesting choice of movies. I notice they are all blockbusters. Surely you’d want to introduce someone frozen for so long to Cillian Murphy. πŸ˜‰

    1. Novroz says:

No need to apologize πŸ™‚ I was the same, I couldn’t be around so often anymore.

Oh, I didn’t notice that, I guess blockbusters used to be great but now it’s only superheroes movies that I don’t watch unless it’s on TV.

Huahaha if I want to share Cilli, i would have chosen Breakfast on Pluto which I still think it’s his best performance but I am not sure a frozen man can accept a man wearing dress and looking as pretty as a real woman πŸ˜‰

Say something so I know you have read my post, THANK YOU for reading :)
