BTT : Recent not-so-Worst

btt
What’s the worst book you’ve read recently?
(I figure it’s easier than asking your all-time worst, because, well, it’s recent!)

I can’t actually said that it was worst…but at least I didn’t finish it because I got bored with it.

It was The Remains of The Day by Kazuo Ishiguro.

the reason is very simple….it bored me so much, the story linger too long…I guess I’m not the kind of person that enjoy lingering story.

But it wasn’t bad….that’s why my title is not-so-Worst. It actually has good sentences but the story is just not my kind of story.

The other one (but I finished reading it with dissapointment) is Harry Potter and The Deadly Hollow.

For me, Harry Potter’s series is closed with a bad ending…an ending that ruins all fascination over the series. Because of this 7th book I lost all interest to go to cinema and watch the 6th movie.

As I said in my review “Harry Potter : The journey is great but the ending is far from great

And of course the book I have mentioned before on my BTT: Unread. Houses Without Doors by Peter Straub. This one can be considered as THE WORST while the other two are not-so-worst.

so how bout you ?

  1. Ditto Harry Potter – I felt that too! I’m glad you were so opinionated about it, there’s no point sitting on the fence 🙂

  2. I think my Sunday Salon post is going to be on why I don’t like to finish books I otherwise enjoy. I just don’t think it’s possible to finish a good story. I felt similarly when I finished the Harry Potter run. I felt the same way as each book individually ended, though, so I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised. I liked the books themselves but they never wrapped up well for me.

As for Kazuo Ishiguro, I tend to like his work but I think it’s a very different pace. His writing is more about the soft flowery development rather than a breakneck plot-driven story. I definitely agree that it’s not a popular one with everyone, though!

Honestly…I don’t quite understand what you are saying on Harry Potter.

On Kazuo…I agree, it’s not that the book is bad but it was just not my kind of story….too literature, I guess

  3. I’m probably one of the few that liked the HP7 book ending. Oh well.

I’m surprised to hear that Straub wrote a bad book, but then again, I’ve not read anything by him so I couldn’t say what type of writer he is. I guess his reputation proceeds him.

Say something so I know you have read my post, THANK YOU for reading :)
