5 Favorite TVSeries of All Time

Click this button to see my other top-5 list

Time for another top 5 list :)

I have been glued to TV since I was very young…TV-series fascinated me in a way a 2 hour movie can’t. The fun of seeing TV-Series is the fact that we get to understand the characters more and somehow attached to them. Some TV-Series are very easy to make people become addicted while others are more like something to pass time with.

There is more passing time kind of TV-Series out there but only few remain as the addictive ones. Some are made so well but fail in the end. Take example of Supernatural, it could easily be my all time favorite but it crashed and burnt when they started playing with God and Angels, they should just stayed with the devils…really!

I want to start with the honorable mentions first and give short explanation why they aren’t in my top 5…if there is any.

  • Friday the 13th (Wikipedia/IMDB ) was a great series I enjoyed so much, cursed items totally had their charm…but charm didn’t last long.
  • The A Team (Wikipedia/IMDB )WAS actually in my top-5 before I discovered my number 3 in the list ;)
  • MacGyver (Wikipedia/IMDB ) He is one of the reason why I like chemistry ;)
  • Supernatural (Wikipedia/IMDB) as I have said above, I lost interest when they start dealing with Angels and God.
  • The IT Crowd (my own review)

Now…let’s move on to the real list ;) Read more of this post

5 Movies I Have Rewatched So Many Times

Click this button to read more post on my Top-5 list

This month’s top 5 is inspired by my fellow movie blogger, the successful Scott at Front Room Cinema. He had these mumbling posts which always have great idea to mumble. At first, I wanted to do top 3 TV Series but I have been discovering interesting British TV series lately, so I delay that top 5 because it might change after I saw those hilarious series. Scott’s mumble about To Rewatch or Not To Rewatch intrigued me to write this top 5.

I am a re-do person, meaning that I don’t mind re-watching movies or re-reading books up to the point that might turn people to boredom (I will do rereading post next month)…but not me. The reason is not because I want to explore the movie to get into more details…the reason is simply because I love the movies too damn much and I hardly find it boring even after viewing it for so many times.

This will be a list of 4 movies and 1 miniseries that almost feel like a series of movies.

Let’s begin :)

#5 Terminator (1 and 2)

I do not own the movie but TV often rerun it and I always end up watching it when I have nothing to do. Those two movies (ignoring the other 2) are still as amazing as the first time I saw it. It’s like the movies were made nowadays instead of back then in the 80s and 90s.

The Reichenbach Fall – The final episode of SHERLOCK’s 2nd Series

John: I am here because …
Psychiatrist:
What happened John?
John:
Sherlock, my friend…
Psychiatrist:
You need to get it out
John:
Sherlock, my best friend, Sherlock Holmes is dead.

NO I DIDN’T JUST GIVE YOU SPOILER!!! That was the opening of The Reichenbach Fall. (use your mouse to read the above quote)

Clearly, if you have read Sherlock Holmes, no matter how ages ago it was…you would remember what happened in this story. The Reichenbach Fall was the climax of Sherlock-Moriarty rivalry.

Well…let’s just begin with a bit of the story….Don’t worry, no spoiler will be given in the first page…however, if you have watched this final episode, please take a look at PAGE 2. I want you to share your opinion on it. That part is perfect for a discussion ;) Read more of this post

Sherlock – The Hounds of Baskerville

This second episode is not as strong as the first one (A Scandal in Belgravia), kinda similar with the first series where The Blind Banker was not as good as A Study in Pink…but The Hounds of Baskerville is still better than The Blind Banker.

The story might not as great as A Scandal in Belgravia but it still has great dialogue. One of the things that I love so much about this series is the dialogue. I have never seen a series with so many interesting dialogues to quote. It’s great how the writers could keep writing such amazing dialogue since the first episode of first series.

I am going to share some interesting dialogues here …but of course it won’t spoil the story ;)

The story began with the memory of Henry Knight who witnessed her father’s death. He remembered that his father was attacked by a beast. Sherlock who was bored with no case to solve and no cigarette to smoke accepted the case just because Henry said something that clicked to his head. Henry claimed that there was a gigantic hound and that hound killed his father 20 years ago.

Sherlock: I’ll take the case.
John: Sorry, what?
Sherlock: Thank you for bringing this to my attention. It’s very promising.
John: No no no. Sorry, what? A minute ago footprints were boring, and now they’re promising?
Sherlock: It has nothing to do with the footprints. As ever, John, you weren’t listening.

Sherlock – A Scandal in Belgravia

I don’t know how to write this review without spoiling the fun…I honestly don’t know!!

But I can say that Steven Moffat didn’t let us, fans of Sherlock Holmes, feels disappointed on how he portrayed the relationship between Sherlock and The Woman, Irene Adler.

On the last episode, The Great Game, we were left with a tight condition between Sherlock, John and Jim Moriarty. The matter was solved. I don’t want to say how, I will try hard not to give any major spoiler here.

I think anyone who had read A Scandal in Bohemia knew how the story goes. Sherlock met his match and it was a woman named Irene Adler. The only woman he referred to as ‘the woman’. The first half of the story was quite the same with the book but the other half was different. Moffat was trying to fit the situation with our modern life. Irene was more seductive than the Irene in the 19th century. Lara Pulver is not a very beautiful woman but she manages to deliver a smart and seductive woman very well. Read more of this post

Sherlock – The Great Game

The final episode of Sherlock has the best mystery of all.

The Great Game is the third episode in the first season of Sherlock, an amazing miniseries from BBC. The first episode is A Study In Pink which is the funniest of all, the second episode is The Blind Banker which is the weakest of all and the third is The Great Game which has the best mystery of all.

In the third and final episode of Sherlock we had a chance to see how great Sherlock is as he races against the time to solve one mystery after another. However, I still voted A Study in Pink as my favorite episode because it brings a lot of smile into my face. Beside the hilarity of A Study in Pink, I also like the way Sherlock observes the victim. When he touches a certain part of the victim, words come out on the screen to tell us what’s on him mind (Look at the picture on the left). I really like that kind of effect because it gives a dramatic feeling. Unfortunately those ‘words’ only appears in the first episode. Fortunately, we still get to see ‘words’ when Sherlock is busy searching information through his mobile-phone.

The Great Game is about some sick game hosted by Sherlock’s arc enemy, Jim Moriarty. Moriarty has been the man behind the crime in the previous episodes, but Sherlock never has real contact with him, he only realizes his existence. In this episode, Moriarty takes a more proactive role to challenge Sherlock’s ability.

Sherlock The Blind Banker

This is the second episode of Sherlock, The Blind Banker

The Blind Banker is not as strong as A Study In Pink. The case is not as intriguing as the 1st episode but the chemistry between the actors is still nice to see. They are getting closer than before. We can also see the annoyance in both John’s and Sherlock’s face. This odd couple really amuses me.

The story started with a terrified Chinese girl. This girl will come across Sherlock’s case. Sherlock was asked by his college mate to help him solved a mystery that happened in his bank. Someone had drawn gravity on a picture of an important man. Sherlock was curious with the graffiti which he thought as a cipher.

Sherlock’s observation led him to 2 curious murders. One was a man from the bank named Van Coon and the other was a reporter named Lukis. They both died inside a closed room and presumed as suicide by police. However, Sherlock didn’t see it like that. He was so sure they were all murdered and the cipher connected the murders.

Sherlock – A study in Pink

I have just seen a marvelous miniseries, I am still mesmerized by it.

A British mini series about Sherlock Holmes but it was made in modern world. It totally intrigued me because it was exactly how I imagine if Sherlock ever live in this time. Remember Robert Downey’s version of Sherlock Holmes? I like Downey but I haven’t seen the movie because all my brain’s nerves are screaming ‘That’s not Sherlock!!’ just by looking at the trailer.

As for Sherlock, I haven’t seen any trailer yet and my friend lent me this mini-series few days ago. I was curious but couldn’t see it till weekend. The minute I saw Sherlock I knew straight away that HE IS A BETTER SHERLOCK than anyone I have ever seen. In fact, he is the most perfect Sherlock Holmes that represents how I imagine Sherlock  whenever I  read the book. He is annoying, obnoxious, a pain in the butt, rude, self-absorbed, cold, & arrogant smart ass. He ignores women. And last but not least, he is annoying…ow, I’ve said that already! However pain in the butt he is…I LOVE THAT MAN!!!

Benedict Cumberbatch is Sherlock Holmes!! He is brilliant!! I wonder how he can memorize all that lines, he speaks without stopping and the lines are so complicated. I love listening to his voice, his deep and sexy voice makes all his deductions sound interesting to hear….well they are interesting but his deep voice make it more interesting.

Not that I don’t like Martin Freeman as Dr. John Watson, but I have to admit that it took time for me to accept him as Dr. Watson. He was not how I imagine Dr. Watson would be but somewhere along the line I grew to like him more and more. Martin Freeman’s version of Watson is a perfect accessory to accompany the oddity of Sherlock.
