Happy 36th Birthday, Cillian Murphy

Last year, I asked my wonderful friends who run movie blog to write anything they like to write about Cillian Murphy, you can read my round-up post here.

This year, I am doing a more personal tribute. I did a Cillian Murphy Week.

The idea is to write nothing else but Cillian Murphy for one week.

It started with a bit of news on Broken and Other News. He had just been nominated for his performance in Misterman.

And then I wrote a short story about him, well his dream to be precised. I call it I Just Want To Jump because that is how I see Cillian Murphy as an actor.

The latest one is my Thirteen Favorite photos of Cillian Murphy, well I am sure you know I have a folder special for Cillian in my computer, I dug up my collection and chose thirteen photos that I like so much.

Now, I am going to close this Cillian Murphy Week with a birthday wish to the first actor that ever captured my whole attention, both as a gorgeous man and as a very talented actor.

Happy 36th Birthday Cillian Murphy :)

May you have more great characters to play and keep on challenging yourself with different characters in every movie.

Don’t ever let money corrupt who you really are!

My 13 Favorite Photos of Cillian Murphy

Did you know that I have one folder special for Cillian Murphy in my computer?

I bet you have already guessed that! ;)

…and I bet you have also guessed that I have lots of photo of this beautiful Irishman ;)

For my 3rd post in this Cillian Murphy Week special, I will share 13 photos of him that I like the most and of course with reason why I like those photos ;) . This is part of my Thursday Thirteen.

It is a tough job to choose ONLY thirteen photos out of over a hundred photo of him. I tried to choose the ones that represent photos with similar theme (I hope).

Although Cillian Murphy has the most amazing eyes in the world, but these 13 photos are not ALL about his captivating eyes.

Let’s just get on with it…shall we ;)

  • Cillian Murphy is a humble family man. This photo of him taking pictures of his son is just TOO adorable.  I bet Yvonne is lucky to have him as her husband and the father of her sons ;)

I Just Want To Jump (A Short Story on Cillian Murphy)

I am not a fan of fanfic (fan fiction), I don’t read one nor write one. Those stories don’t attract me at all.

…but, few days ago I read a review by Caroline at Beauty Is A Sleeping Cat about a book called Dreams of Dreams by Antonio Tabucchi. It was a book about dream of famous people. She gave me idea to write one using my favorite author or actor. I thought it was a great idea.

Here’s a quote from her review:

“Antonio Tabucchi’s Sogni di sogni or Dreams of Dreams is a collection of sketches or short pieces, circling around the life and work of different authors, painters, musicians and other famous people. Arranged in chronological order they all tell of an imaginary dream of the person to whom the story is dedicated”

I didn’t realize that the idea soon changed into an outline after seeing this image from Creative Writing Ink. It was image from last week’s writing prompt.

This story has 2 purposes, for creative writing and for Cillian Murphy Week :) Read more of this post

Monthly (Cillian) Murphy Special ~ Broken and Other News

May is proven to be the busiest of the year. I begin May with L’Arc~en~Ciel week, L’Arc~en~Ciel is my number one obsession (see my top 5 obsession here) and now in the middle of the month, I started Cillian Murphy Week and Cillian is my second obsession. Busiest month…indeed ;)

…however, May is also the happiest month. It began with seeing the band I am waiting for 11 years (L’Arc~en~Cie) and knowing they read my message to them and it will continue with Cillian Murphy reading my message to him personally  :) (I will talk about this message on May 25)

The reason for making L’Arc~en~Ciel week was because the band was performing on May 2nd in my city…and the reason for Cillian Murphy week is none other than his birthday on May 25 :)

You can at least expect three more posts after this one, a short story I made based on Caroline’s idea, 13 favorite photos of him as part of Thursday Thirteen meme and of course a post on his birthday.

Now, let’s begin the first post on Cilian’s week

BROKEN

I have mentioned about this movie back in June 2011, here’s what I shared back then:

Screen Daily has reported that Cillian will be in a movie called Broken.

Theatre director Rufus Norris will make his feature debut with Broken, adapted by Mark O’Rowe from Daniel Clay’s novel. Cillian Murphy is attached to star in what is described as a modern-day To Kill a Mockingbird set in the North of England.

BBC Films Head Christine Langan tells Screen: “It’s about distrust and hatred in a small community. It’s very dark but with a note of redemption.” Dixie Linder, Nick Marston and Tally Garner will produce.

There is only one thing I should  do before the movie comes out (it is still in pre-production)…Find the book, buy and read it :)

The movie, although said to be released in 2014 (in both Imdb and wikipedia) but it had made its first appearance in Cannes 2012. I am a bit not sure about that 2014, it might be 2013. I am also not sure that the movie will be played in my country’s cinema. Once again I have to rely on torrentz. I really want to see his face again in big screen but he is been playing in non blockbuster movies recently and my country’s cinema seems to hate non blockbuster movies *sigh* Read more of this post

This is the second Cillian Murphy related post, despite the fact I have pledged to write only 1 post a month when I started Monthly Murphy…but sometimes I couldn’t help to publish more posts on this most gorgeous man on earth, especially around his belated birthday.

One of my favorite sites, The Cillian Site, is hosting a very wonderful event to celebrate Cillian’s birthday this coming May 25.

Here’s a glimpse of the event:

As you probably know, Cillian will be turning the big 3-6 on 25 May. We would like to invite all of you to participate in creating a one-of-a-kind birthday gift that will (hopefully!) be presented to Cillian in London next month. What we need from you is an email to editors@cilliansite.com containing the following: your favorite photo of Cillian, your favorite Cillian quote, favorite role, and something about yourself, i.e. how you became a fan and why, your country of origin, a photo of yourself if you would like, etc. These pages will be printed and bound in a beautiful book. The more the better!

Read more about it here.

I guess you have pretty much guess that it’s impossible for someone like me not to participate

So…here is what I am going to send to the editors of The Cillian Site :)

My favorite photo of  Cillian

This is TOO difficult!!! Gyaaaaa how can I chose one out of all those amazing photos of him??? I finally choose these three:

Filleann an Feall : Cillian Murphy Speaks in Irish

Click this button to read more about Cillian Murphy

This month’s Monthly Murphy is very special. I have seen this short years ago and haven’t found the right time to share it till today. This is the first and only time I heard the gorgeous Cillian Murphy speaks in Irish…well broken Irish to be precise.

Cillian Murphy has done 9 short films so far, and I have seen 8 of them…couldn’t find his first short yet, but I will one day ;)

I have shared 4  films in this beloved Monthly Murphy of mine, they are The Silent City, Watchmen, The Water, and At The Death’s Door.

Today…I will share Filleann an Feall. This is a 20 minute short film about Seán (Don Wycherley) and Ger (Cillian Murphy), two Dubliners who happened to be a small time criminal. They got a job that required them to speak Irish. Ger wasn’t good in Irish but he tried hard to speak the language. They soon found a kind of treasure that made them forgot their job.

The Irish Film Board Synopsis:

Two Dubs, Sean and Ger, get wind of the proverbial pot of gold and what should be a straight-forward job becomes a fiasco. But, there’s an old Irish saying – “Filleann an feall ar an bhfeallaire – What goes around comes around”.

In Irish:

Click this button to read more about Cillian Murphy

Dear Cillian Murphy,

You are trully one of the best actors nowadays…too bad not many people see that, but I do. Congratulation for the best actor award at The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards. I know I didn’t see the play (I really really wish I could) but I am sure you are amazing there as many critics said you were.

While everyone seems to pay attention to Oscar, I have my eyes on a different award. I have shared a bit about the award on my previous Monthly Murphy. The result was announced on February 26.

I didn’t share it in my blog straight away because I want it to be in my March Monthly Murphy.

The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards for best actors, the nominees are:

  • Cillian Murphy as Thomas Magill in Misterman , written and directed by Enda Walsh, produced by Landmark Productions/Galway Arts Festival
  • Patrick O’Kane as John Proctor in The Crucible , by Arthur Miller, directed by Conall Morrison for The Lyric Theatre, Belfast.
  • Paul Reid in Man of Valour , written by Michael West, directed by Annie Ryan and produced by Corn Exchange Theatre Company.
  • Philip Judge as Older Man in Trade , written by Mark O’Halloran, directed by Tom Creed for Thisispopbaby.

And the winner is:

Cillian Murphy as Thomas Magill in Misterman , written and directed by Enda Walsh, produced by Landmark Productions/Galway Arts Festival.

Horayyyyyy……. \(^_^)/

I love his acceptance speech…such a down to earth speech. (see the video of his speech at the end of this post) Read more of this post

Cillian Murphy’s Filmography + Red Lights Trailer

It’s 2012!!! That only means 1 thing; I am now entering my third year as Cillianiac. I bet you didn’t know that I started becoming his fan since 2010, which is only 2 years ago. Within 2 years, I have adored this man more than any actors alive or dead. He is not the best of all but he certainly is one of the best.

Starting this month, January 2012, I am going to spend a bit more time for my Monthly Murphy post, which is for creating special banner like you see above. It’s going to be some kind of signature for this monthly post (apart from the button/icon).

Last year, I made a list of all books by Stephen King, who is my fourth obsession, and then I realized that I haven’t written the same list for my second obsession (I have written my top-5 obsession> here). I have made top-5 movies by Cillian Murphy (both in acting and movie’s storyline) but I do believe that I need to write this list of movies I have to watch, I am literally going to watch his ENTIRE movie even though he is only a cameo.

Shall we begin ;) Read more of this post
