Monday Movies: REC, Dark Water, The Tempest, Kungfu Panda

I haven’t watched a lot of movies lately, these 4 movies are movies I watched in one month. Such a short list, isn’t it?

The holy month of Ramadhan is a busy month for me, therefore I couldn’t find time to watch movies. At least I still manage to see one re-watched movie, one suspense movie, one terribly boring movie and finally…one movie in cinema :)

Lately, The cinema is kind enough to show blockbuster movies such as Harry Potter, Transformers, Kungfu Panda and fast and Furious 5.

Here are my reviews of movies I have watched recently:

REC (2007)

Director: Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza
Starring: Manuela Velasco – Ángela Vidal, Ferrán Terraza – Manu, Jorge-Yaman Serrano – Policía Joven, Pablo Rosso – Pablo, David Vert – Álex, Vicente Gil – Policía Adulto
Rating:

Story: The movie was done in a documentary fashion. A reporter, Angela Vidal, and a cameraman, Pablo, were following 2 firemen who received a call about an old woman being trapped in her apartment. When they got there, the old woman bit a policeman and of the fire fighters. Everyone who got bitten turned into a kind of zombie that would bite another person. To make matter worse, the military sealed off the building so that the virus that turned people into zombie won’t get out of the building.  Everyone in the building tried to survive by not being bitten.

Monday Movies: Hulk, Priest and Unknown

In the last 2 weeks, I got a chance to see 3 movies. I know it’s not many but that’s all I can see in my busy hours. I was planning to see 4 movies but one of the DVDS is not working properly. It was a movie by Keanu Reeves (Henry’s Crime), I have to return that DVD soon.

First of all, we, Indonesian movie lovers, are still feeling terribly sad because there are still no new movies in the cinema. All the Harry Potter fans are furious (fortunately I don’t follow that movie anymore)…but I am afraid this matter will be unsolved for a long time. My only concern now is unable to see Tintin and Now (or I’m Mortal or its new title I have forgotten), tho Now is only going to be watched to see Cillian’s face in the big screen. Yes, I can see those movies in DVD but it won’t be the same as watching it in the big screen :(

Enough with the sadness…now, let’s talk about the movies :)

I watched Incredible Hulk in TV and Priest and Unknown in DVD.

Incredible Hulk (2008)

Director: Louis Leterrier
Starring: Edward Norton (Bruce Banner), Liv Tyler (Elizabeth Ross), Tim Roth (Emil Blonsky), and William Hurt (Thaddeus Ross)

Story: It took place after the first Hulk Movie. Bruce was working in Soda Bottling factory in Brazil. He was consulting through the net with Mr. Blue. He was still looking for the cure or the way to get rid of the green monster inside him. Because of a small drop of blood in the bottle, the army could track down where Bruce had been hiding. He decided to come back to US and met both Betty and Mr. Blue. His enemy, apart from Betty’s father, was a creature called abomination. Read more of this post

Monday Movies: Paul & Beck

Last week I was SO busy and next week I am still going to be So Busy :(

I long for a holiday. I really miss blogging, both writing and reading. All my posts last week (except for my winner announcement post) are scheduled post. I tried to take a 2 hours break to write this post, I really want to share these 2 movies (and I still have 2 books to be reviewed).

These past 2 weeks, I watched 2 movies (I bought 11 DVDs 2 weeks ago)…one was one of my anticipated movies and the other was something I bought because I love Japanese movies. The funny thing is the one I was eager to watch was the one that got low rating while the one I bought without reference was the one that got higher rating. Tho my rating is 100% personal taste ;)

Without much introduction, here are the movies I have watched (Hoping Friday will come tomorrow so that I can watch more movies) Read more of this post

Monday Movies : 1 Zombie, 1 Rewatch and 2 War Movies

Since I bought new DVD player (to replace the broken one), I have been on movie spree. I watched at least 3movies a week. Because of the unfortunate case in my country (Read: Bye Bye Imported Movies), I have no other means to watch movies but DVD. I really hope the problem will be solved really soon.

I decided to make a button for this post because I know that as long as I keep on blogging I will continue writing Monday Movies to wrap up movies I have watched recently. The button is my dearest nephew holding the TV remote….it is really difficult to take the remote away from him ;)

Let’s move on with the movies!

Last week, I watched 4 movies; 1 zombie movie,1 re-watch movie, 1 animation movie and 1 war movie. I don’t want to write long introduction, here are my thought on each movie I saw last week.

28 Weeks Later (2007)

Director : Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
Staring : Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, Mackintosh Muggleton, Imogen Poots, Idris Elba.

I have this movie  since last year but I couldn’t make myself watching it till last week. The reason is quite simple, I am not a zombie person and I tend to compare movies.

After watching it, at first, I wanted to make a battle movie between 28 Weeks Later with 28 days later (just like what I did with Shaun of the Dead VS Zombieland)…but I changed my mind. Read more of this post

Monday Movies : Space Jam, The Golden Compass, The Invasion

You know, I haven’t seen any new movies for2 simple reasons: 1) No interesting new movies made it into my country’s cinema yet. The distribution became really late after the tax issue. I am still waiting impatiently to see Paul. 2) My DVD player is broken and I still haven’t bought a new one yet.

therefore, I am now stuck with local TV channels.

I rarely watched TV from Monday to Friday because there were hardly anything good on TV, never expect me to start watching those hideous sinetron (Indonesian TV drama). Fortunately, there were some good movies on the weekend.

Yesterday was one of my best TV days. I sit comfortably in front on the TV set from morning to late at night. Something I haven’t done in a looong time. I watch Shinchan and NBA games in the morning till afternoon which are my routine schedule…and after that, I enjoyed watching these 3 movies:
