Simon Pegg’s Factor: Spaced & A Fantastic Fear of Everything

As I have said in my top 5 British Entertainers (although I cheated a bit because I included a group of people ;) ), one of them are the hilarious trio Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright. I love those three British and always try to watch everything by them. Related to them, I recently watched a TVSeries and Movie staring Simon Pegg.

My Top-5 Most Favorite British Entertainers

Click this button to see my other top-5 list

I didn’t do a top-5 list last month because I was so eager to share my top-5 British entertainers but at the same time, I want to share the people on my top list before making the list because I know for sure that not many people know them. They are awesome but a bit odd, a combination not many people risk to find out.

I have shared about them throughout November and I am now ready with my top-5 entertainers from The Great Britain. These entertainers will exclude musician as I have already shared my top-5 British Musician 2 years ago.

Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland…which means that my dearest Cillian Murphy can’t be included as he is from Ireland (Republic). If he is included, he will – of course – be in number one position ;)

Ever since I fell in love with Cillian Murphy, I have been into UK and Ireland movies more than I have ever been in my life. I have always loved British music more than American music since I was a kid but Hollywood movies pretty much rules my life, and then Japanese movies creeping into my taste…and now, I am so happy that Cillian has opened my eyes and realized that movies from Great Britain and Ireland are as fascinating (sometimes even more) as the Hollywood ones.

As I watch more movies and telly, I grow to like more British entertainers than ever before.

Now…Let’s just move on to the list ;)

#5 Paul Bettany

I have been his fan since he mesmerized me as Silas in The DaVinci Code…and despite his bad movies such as Legion and Priest, I still have a lot of love for this man. I love seeing how he can change from one fragile man in Master and Commanders to a tough man in Priest, or from the chatty man in a Knight’s Tale to a serious man in Creation. I try to watch ALL his movies if I can find them. Not many people see him as a talented actor, but I do. I’ll watch a super crappy movie (read: Legion) ONLY because he was in it…that shows how much I like Paul Bettany. Read more of this post

Waiting For The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy a.k.a The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy

Some of you might never hear of this trilogy or should I say the upcoming trilogy is. The trilogy is going to be completed in 2013. The first time I heard about this trilogy was when I watched the first movie, at that time I was told that the last in the trilogy called The World’s End is going to be released in 2012, kinda related to the prophecy which said that the world will come to an end in 2012. Then, for reasons I didn’t know, The World’s End was postponed to 2013.

Ups…I talk too far ahead, I should have told you first about the trilogy ;)

The Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy (I found out its other name from wikipedia, it is The Three Flavoured Cornetto Trilogy…but I am used with the former one so I will keep using that one instead of the later) is not like other trilogy ever produced in movie industry. None of the movie in the trilogy is connected to each other, the only thing connected each other are the presence of blood, Cornetto and the amazing hilarious trio from England, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright.

Pegg, Frost and Wright…have you got the clues already? ;)

Monday Movies : The Storm Riders, Scott Pilgrim, Beowulf

Inspired by Ruth’s Weekend Viewings, I decided to make my own Monday Movies.

I usually wrote my collection of movies in different titles, such as British Invasion for all British movies, Random Hollywood for all Hollywood movies, Mesmerizing Nihon for all Japanese movies, Across The World for movies from different countries….too many titles, isn’t it?

Monday movies will be all those combine in one. It won’t be a weekly post or monthly post, it is something I will write whenever I have too many movies I want to review.

Here are the movies I watched recently:

  • The Storm Riders – 風雲雄霸天下 (1998)

Director: Andrew Lau
Staring: Aaron Kwok, Ekin Cheng, Sonny Chiba, Kristy Yang, And Michael Tse

I watched this movie few weeks ago because I haven’t watched any Hong Kong movies in a while, I think the last one I watched was a movie by Jackie Chan. When I saw The Storm Riders DVD and read the summary, I thought it would be a fun movie because it was based on Chinese Graphic novel.

The story was basically about revenge. A powerful lord named Conqueror (Sonny Chiba) had his life foretold by a monk that he would become unbeatable if he had 2 young boys named Cloud and Wind under his care. The monk didn’t tell him what would happen 10 years after he had Wind (Ekin Cheng) and Cloud (Aaron Kwok). He searched for the boys everywhere. He killed their parents and trained them to be his successor.  When they grew up, both of them fell in love with Conqueror’s daughter, Charity (Kristin Yang). Charity loved Cloud more than Wind. When Charity was killed, the revenge against Conqueror began.

Hollywood Fantasy Draft II -Movie Pitch: In The Jungle

Logline: We have seen Tom Hanks trying to survive in a remote island, we have seen Ryan Reynolds trying to be unburied, and we have also seen James Franco trying to escape from the mountain…now, prepare yourself to see the survival of an odd pair of Father and Son hilariously trying to make their way inside the jungle

Director: Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright is the perfect man to direct my movie because he can deliver simple theme into hilarious movie. We have seen his comedic hand in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both movies are a great parody to each genre (Zombie and Cop), the kind of parody that doesn’t push things too much and make it as a dumb movie (such as scary movie and the likes of them).

Scriptwriters: Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg.
This pair had proven that they can efficiently hurt our stomach due to too much laughing. They can write silly conversation that forced us to put a smile on our face or laughing our guts out. Since I, as the producer, couldn’t write funny conversation, I have to hire these two to do it.
