Doctor Who Series 6 (2011)

Time for another Doctor Who review ;)

I have mentioned in my Doctor Who series 5 review that Matt Smith is my least favorite Doctor and I am not that keen of his impersonation of the Doctor…however, I am glad I stay with him (meaning I didn’t ditch Doctor Who because the new Doctor was less interesting than the previous one)…I am glad because Matt Smith’s version of The Doctor has finally got into me ;)

I think one of the reasons I couldn’t warm up to Smith in series 5 was because series 5 was a bit of a letdown. After the amazing series 4, series 5 felt so plain. FORTUNATELY, series 6 was a knock out! I love all the episodes and it’s far more interesting than series 5. Each episode made me accept the quirky Doctor more and more.

Although I am still going to say that Tennant is my favorite Doctor, but I am beginning to enjoy Smith’s version of The Doctor :) I am also warming up to the Doctor’s companions, Amy and Rory…mostly Rory. River Song also pops up occasionally.

Series 6 had 13 fascinating stories that completely glued me to the television set. I finished them all in 3 days, I could have finished them all in one day if I had a 13 hour free time. They were a series of amazing journey. I was all pumped up again :) The feeling was just like when I enjoyed all the episodes from series 1 with the ninth Doctor to series 4 with the tenth Doctor.

The Impossible Astronaut and Day of The Moon. The series began with a double episode which reminded me so much of The X Files (yippi). The Doctor invited Amy, Rory and River Song to a certain place in USA. An astronaut suddenly showed up from the lake and shot the Doctor…yes, the series began with the death of the Doctor. Quite an opening, don’t you think? Read more of this post

Doctor Who – Series 5 (2010)

Doctor Who series 5

I finally have time to write and share about the latest Doctor…the eleventh Doctor. I have actually watched the series almost two months ago but something else always came up and made me published those posts before this one. I think there is a reason why I publish it a bit later, unlike what I did before. The main reason is, I am not that keen with the latest Doctor.

All Matt Smith fans…please don’t hate me for saying this but out of all three Doctors I have seen, the Eleventh Doctor is clearly my least favorite. I think this new version of The Doctor is rather uncharismatic. When the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) said something like “I am The Doctor and I will stop you!!” or “I am the Doctor and you must fear me!!” or something similar like that…both Doctors have great charisma that can make the baddies think twice before attacking. In my eyes, when the Eleventh Doctor says that kind of statement…I see no charisma coming out of him.

Christmas Carol Special

First of all…NO NEED to wish me Merry Christmas as I am not Christian and therefore don’t celebrate Christmas …but Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it :)

Now…if I don’t celebrate Christmas, why do I make a Christmas Carol special? Well, the answer is because of Caroline @ Beauty Is A Sleeping Cat. She and Delia @ Postcard From Asia are hosting a Dickens in December. The idea is to read books by Dickens or watch movies based on his books. Well I am now reading A Tale of Two Cities, I hope I can finish it as I gave up with Oliver Twist years ago.

Today, December 21, is a Christmas Carol readalong event…unfortunately I couldn’t read one so I just shared two Christmas Carol specials…One is very funny while the other is very sentimental…and funny thing is both are Doctor Who related!! One played by the ninth Doctor and his companion while the other one is Doctor Who special.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks – Prepare to laugh!!!

From wikipedia:

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a comedy panel game television show with a pop music theme, currently without a permanent presenter. It stars Phill Jupitus and Noel Fielding (from 2009) as team captains. The show is produced by Talkback for the BBC, and is usually aired on BBC Two. The title plays on the names of punk rock band Sex Pistols’ Never Mind the Bollocks album, and the pop punk band Buzzcocks.

The show is noted and known for its dry, sarcastic humour and scathing, provocative attacks on the music industry. It has also had some controversial guests throughout its 15-year run.

I don’t want to quote everything…I only need to share the basic of what Never Mind The Buzzcock is…for more detail, please go to wikipedia.org ;)

I discovered this hilarious comedy panel when I was really into David Tennant (I love him as the tenth Doctor in Doctor Who). I was laughing so loud in the middle of the night when I saw Never Mind The Buzzcocks – Doctor Who special.

At that time, the host was the handsome doctor, David Tennant and the panelist are (on Phil’s team) Benard Cribbins and Jo Whiley; (On Noel’s team) Jamie Cullum and Catherine Tate. It was freakin hilarious and I completely forgot that it was midnight and I laughed so loud and causing my father to shout at me ;) Read more of this post

Doctor Who Specials

As I have said in my review of Doctor Who 2008…this post will be my last post of Doctor Who for THIS YEAR!!

I am going to avoid myself from being bored by one of my favorite TV Series by giving it time to cool down for a while. My plan is to watch the new Doctor early next year. I am going to control myself by watching other movies and TV series.

These five Specials are the last of David Tennant’s time as the Doctor. I am going to miss him as the Doctor. Many said that Matt Smith is also good but I am not sure I will like him as much as I like Tennant.

The Voyage of The Damned (Christmas Special 2007)

The Voyage of The Damned is actually a special before the 2008 series…but I found it after I saw the series. This time, the Doctor was accompanied by a famous singer, Kyle Minogue as Astrid Peth. Read more of this post

Doctor Who Series 4 (2008)

Because that’s how I see the universe. Every waking second, I can see what is, what was, what could be, what must not. That’s the burden of the Timelords, and I am the only one left.

I am back with the Time Lord review ;)

I have been delaying this post for days because I want to have some space between my last Doctor Who review to this one. I don’t want to turn my blog into something TOO Doctor Who-ish ;) .. In fact, I will stop watching Doctor Who after I have finished watching all the special episodes that followed after this fourth series. In other word, I will stop watching Doctor Who as David Tennant changed into Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor.

…but…what I meant by stop is more like a break ;) I am taking a break from Doctor Who and will continue again when I finally have the entire episodes in series 5 (2010) and 6 (2011). Series 7 is still on the run. I want to have 2 series before starting the Doctor Who marathon again :)

Again, I have to mention that I have just followed Doctor Who series from series 1, which was aired in 2005. Out of all companions (of the ninth and tenth Doctor)…and out of all his companions from series 1 to 4, Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) is my favorite. I like the fact that she doesn’t fall in love with the Doctor…they are simply friends. I find this friendship relationship is more appealing than one sided love affair. Like I said in my review of Doctor Who 2007, I didn’t like Martha Jones because she was too in love with The Doctor, I still like Rose Tyler because even though she liked him but they were more like comfortable friends than people who were in love. I like doing some photoshopping …just for fun. Not that good tho but I just like doing it.

Usually, the object of my photoshop is my baby turtles, here are some of my photoshop images: (click the image to see it bigger)

After seeing this amazing photoshop of Shirtless Cillian Murphy, I somehow wanted to do some photoshopping with Cillian’s photo (I know it won’t be as good as the shirtless image…but for the sake of fun, I still want to do it) Read more of this post
