The Reichenbach Fall – The final episode of SHERLOCK’s 2nd Series

As we all know, Sherlock didn’t die at the end. Moffat said he left us a clue to figure out.

Here is my deduction:

Moriarty believed that Sherlock’s friends were only John, Lestrade and Mrs. Hudson…he completely forgot about Molly. Sherlock asked for her help because she knew how to deal with dead bodies. They could arrange so that a certain dead body can be dressed up as Sherlock. Then, Molly faked the report and said that it was really Sherlock’s body.

About the time of the suicide, we could clearly see that there was a building between Sherlock and John. John could see him jump but couldn’t see him land…he needed John to be in that exact spot. A cyclist intentionally hit John so that John couldn’t see Sherlock right away. We also caught a glimpse of a truck with either garbage or something else near the landing area…Sherlock most definitely landed on that truck.

I believe…John’s position, the cyclist and the trucks were the clues Moffat left for us.

What do you think?

But…it’s not exactly fit to Moffat’s words: Steven Moffat said that Sherlock did something very out of character and has hinted that it is a clue as to how he faked his death

His out of character were begging for help to Molly, calling John (he always texted him), and not showing off by saying he is a fake.

If you like to share your opinion, please use this format so that it won’t be a spoiler for other people who haven’t seen it.

I found this video in youtube, he had the same opinion but gave more details to his explanation.

However, there is something I couldn’t figure out. Why did Sherlock say all those things to John, about him being a fake? What is that for?

….I bet my money that Moriarty is also faking his death. But I really hope he is dead.

Third series….hurry come!!!

from the page 1: “Andrew Scott made Moriarty looks like such an annoying DRAMA QUEEN.” <– WORD!!! I also don't like how he portrays Moriarty!

    And as for the ending,

I also thought Sherlock had arranged something with Molly too.

This is just my opinion though; I think why Sherlock said all those things to John on the phone is either (1) it’s a secret message for John to crack it or (2) he somehow also knew that Moriarty faked his death too (or maybe Moriarty’s people were still watching Sherlock’s move), so he tried to make people believe that he indeed committed suicide. IMHO :p

Use you mouse to blacken the text above as it is a huge spoiler

Glad to know that Riz!!! I started to believe that I am the only one who don’t like him….a lot of people in tumblr like his potrayal. I always imagine Moriarty as a calm genius man.

I think a lot of people realize how Molly plays such a big role in that trick. Molly is really trustworthy.

a secret code sounds like a good reason. I wonder what code is he trying to say.
You also believe Moriarty is faking it? I kinda hope he is really gone…but most likely not
      :(

thank you for sharing your thought Fariz :)

I haven’t read this AT ALL, as I still haven’t watched the episode. Sorry

I’ve read all the books and seen the RDJ films, but I have not had a chance to see this series of Sherlock Holmes. As far as I know, it’s not available here in the States. I hope to catch it eventually as it sounds terrific. Great review, I love your enthusiasm.

Ow my dear Melissa!! If you have read all the book…then I guarantee that you will LOVE this series. Benedict is really awesome as Sherlock.
I don’t know will US ever play it or not, there are even scary rumour of a remake (Pray to God it will NEVER happen)…but you can find the DVD easily in Amazon.

Thank you for reading Mel :)

I missed all 3 of them but they will probably be shown on Flemish telly in the near future as well so I’m keeping an eye out for that moment!

ah…too bad you missed it. It is BRILLIANT!!! I think it is better than the first one, but I am not saying that the first series is not great. Let’s just say slightly better than the first one ;)

Do watch it when it is being rerun. I have watched this second series 3 times.

I haven’t seen this one either, so I’ll re-read when I do. I hate that these series are so short. They are just so good! :)

Hear hear!! and somehow I feel that it will end with only 3 series because the next series they will show John getting married with Mary.
For me, Sherlock is the best series in a decade. I just love it so much. Do come back after you watch it and let’s discuss the ending ;)

I’m glad they managed to make a great finale!
I need to watch them, is all I can say.

For some reason I enjoyed the more simpler second episode to this one. But I think I better give this episode another watch. I also missed episode one of the series so will have to check that out on BBC iPlayer.

    • Novroz January 25, 2012 at 9:38 pm

      For some reasons? like what?
I do agree the second one is much simpler than this, but the relationship between Sherlock and John is much stronger here…and I like that a lot. Plus, the last part where Moffat left a clue sort of makes me so curious.
Looking forward to know your opinion of the first episode Dan :)

The script sounds so witty, that’s always the strength of BBC series. They don’t just have pretty people on screen like a lot of the shows here in the US.

Would love to read what you think about this post :)
