In The Deathroom

In The Death RowThis is my first audio book and to no one’s surprise…it’s a book by Stephen King :) I really really loves his works…none of his works is considered as bad book.

I was curious about audio book ever since someone in BTT told me about On Writing in form of an audio book , read by Stephen king himself…at that moment I was so eager to know the sensation of having the great Mr. King read to me.

After searching for quite sometimes, I stumbled upon this blog. It provided a lot of King’s audio books. I have limited time when I found the link, so I could only DLded 1 file. It was In The Deathroom…it lasted for 1 hour.

The story is about a man named Fletcher who was dragged into the basement of Department of Information in a country in South American. He was a news reporter. He was questioned by a man named Escobar. Escobar was accompanied by a guard named Ramon, an old woman that looked like the bride of Frankenstein (in Fletcher’s eyes), and another man named Haines (I think…I’m not so sure about the spelling). He was questioned about his relation with Pedro Nunies (once again I’m not sure about the spelling). He was shown a picture of the late Thomas Harara, Thomas died because he refused to cooperate with Escobar.

Fletcher knew that no matter what he has to get out of that room…the room felt so much like a death row, if he didn’t get out he would end up like Thomas Harara. Fletcher’s way of escaping was gruesome and full of blood (which is why I love Stephen king’s works).

How does it feel to have Mr. King read to me?? It was awesome!! I love audio book (tho I’m not sure how I feel about audio book by other authors)…Stephen King read the book with intonation and a bit of different accent for each character, it was really fun. Mr. King has this sound of droning every time he said little ;)

I want to download more Stephen King’s audio book!!!

I like having original stuff when it comes to my favorite authors…BUT unfortunately I can’t download audio book legally coz I don’t have credit card to pay it online…so illegal download is my only way (sorry Mr. King)

I’m not that familiar with his writing but I do wish they had done a more accurate version of his novel The Running Man. That Arnie film from the 80′s sucked and it was nothing like the novel.

Ah…the movies!! The Shining is also sucks, it changed a lot of things,I like the book way more than the movie.

I haven’t seen the running man yet. I am currently writing my list of SK’s book I haven’t read. My goal is to read ALL his books

You are the first beside King himself that I have heard complain about The Shining. =) Then I assume you like the TV-miniseries they did on it that he was more fond of.

You don’t need to run out and get the Running Man DVD unless you are a die hard Arnie fan. As I said its more or less like they only kept the title of the book in the film. The book is way better.

Hahaha I know! a lot of people enjoy The Shining but me ;)
In my review on The Shining, I mentioned that I thought I have seen the movie because I remember the topiary so much…but when I watched the Nicholson one, there is no topiary animals at all…and someone commented that I probably seen the miniseries.
So, I might have seen the miniseries but I couldn’t remember it anymore.

I am more intereted with the book rather than the movie. I like watching Arnie movies, but between book and movie, book always win ;)

Would love to read what you think about this post :)
