BTT: Unread

btt

Is there a book that you wish you could “unread”? One that  you disliked so thoroughly you wish you could just forget that you ever read it?

Wow…I have the perfect answer for this one. I only write review on books that I like but this book made it into my review because it was terrible…I hate this book, I felt deceived by it. I read the recommendation on its back and I thought let’s give it a try.
And for the 1st time in my life…my instinct was wrong!! The book is so not worthed.

What book do I mean?? It’s Houses Without Doors by Peter Straub. Read the full review here.

There are other books that I regret reading it…but none as worst as this one (I don’t mean to offend any Straub’s Fans…this is my personal feeling) I ended up swapping this book with Congo by Michael Crichton…which is way way better than Houses Without Doors.

So, How bout you?

Happy BTT

Hmm… I haven’t read anything by this author yet. I hope his other books will be better. :)

I read your review of It’s Houses Without Doors. You are right, the summary is absolutely fantastic. Sad, it didn’t work out though. I loved Congo, both the book and the movie.

    Thx for reading it :)

    I haven’t seen Congo yet :(

Obviously not your kind of book! nor mine either.

    Novroz’ Answer

Sounds like a book you would prefer to forgot. Not one of my preferred genres, so it won’t be too difficult for me to avoid this one.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy BTT.

I’ve heard of Straub, but not read anything by him yet. I had no trouble zeroing in on an offender, either. The Gun Runner’s Daughter was my pick.

I have not read the book you listed. I have read a few that I could not stand over the years, but no use in wasting time reading it, if you don’t like it.

    Hear Hear!!

I didn’t finish that book either.

    Thanks for giving an example.

    Novroz’ Answer
You’re welcome :) …I think (I’m not sure how to respond on this…I mean I’m being harsh on a certain author…was it agood or bad example?)

I don’t read a lot of genre fiction, but I wonder if certain types of books are more likely to result in this outcome…

    Novroz’ Answer
on contrary, I don’t read alot of non-fiction…I like watching it rather than reading it.

I believe book is a matter of taste…so one might end up hating it so bad while others might love it so much

I haven’t encountered something that is irredeemably bad. Books that I want to “unread” are ones written by authors whose previous reads I have enjoyed. Sometimes they just have a bad day I guess. I would like to defy time and start over again with another book.

    Novroz’ Answer
I have the same experience with Dan Brown, I like DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons so much but I really don’t like digital Fotress

Would love to read what you think about this post :)
