Salem’s Lot-Movie

I’ve just watched Salem’s Lot. As I have said before (when I was writing about the book)…Salem’s Lot is one of my least favorite of Stephen King’s books…and somehow the movie didn’t make it better.

This movie was made in 2004 but previously made for televison in 1979.

I watched it twice…not twice as a whole but twice as in half and half. 3 days ago, I eagerly played the movie and hoping to see good stuff but in turned out I was faced with boredom. It started with Ben Mears trying to Kill Father Callahan. Both of them was sent to hospital, and in that hospital Ben told a male nurse about what happened and why he tried to kill a priest. The story pretty much the same with the book. Ben met Sue Norton and Matt Burke. A boy had gone missing and another one turned up dead. Matt finally figured out what went wrong with the town.

That was about half of the whole movie…and guess what?? It was boriiiing…I got so bored I turned off the DVD player and went to bed.

Today I continued the movie…just to know how the story goes. Thanks God the other half of the movie is more interesting than before. I wouldn’t say it as great, but it definitely is better than before.

Matt, Ben, Mark Petrie, Sue and Father Callahan teamed up to fight the evil that had changed the town…there were more action in this part of the movie.

There are many differences from the book, they added few things or erased few things. It isn’t a 100% changes like the ending of The Mist and Dreamcatcher. And I can’t say that I like or dislike the changes they’ve made…all I could say is that the movie has touchy ending.

My advice to anyone who wants to watch it is BE PREPARED TO GET BORED ON THE FIRST HALF.

I totally agree with you on the movie, but I like the book a lot. I don’t know why they change the set into present, that really made the classic essence gone

Would love to read what you think about this post :)
